Pirates of the Internet

As everyone can imagine not everything in Internet is wonderful… We have to notice that Internet was made by and for users. That is why “users” sometimes don’t “use” Internet in a moral way. Let me explain it… Do you really think that when you download illegal music you are not prejudicing singers? Internet has provided people a buffet of content, but nowadays we want to have it free, and everyone knows that is impossible. Who is going to pay those people who generate those contents?

I had the opportunity to go to FICOD 2010, and I was surprised when everyone in the room admitted downloading music, even those ones who were giving the conference. But the most repeated sentence was: “If I have the chance to download it free, why I need to pay for it?”. Well, it is certain in some way, but we have to think that if those people who create those contents don’t receive money, they are going to stop producing it; and then, what are you going to download?

La ley Sinde has been created exactly for that. Every illegal webpage or program which lends people download illegal content is going to be closed.

If you do piracy, you are stealing; you are stealing the wallet of those people who pays for making the content…

I don’t want to accuse you anymore of this… I need to admit that I do download music and videos too.

Thank Internet!

Tell me, who could imagine that we were going to be able to receive these kinds of images before the Internet appeared?

Now, when Japan seems to be closed, when it seems to be impossible to access… we receive a lot of images. But just think; it’s because of Internet.

With the apparition of Internet, each citizen is able to publish their own information, and that is why the day of today we can watch these videos.

The same happened when Libya broke out. We just had information that came from the Government, but citizens understood very good its role: they exposed the real situation of Libya thanks to social networks.

Internet ends with every distance and every difficulty, and this happens because of citizens' participation.

Not without the Internet!

Although information is something that we have always needed, now is even more important than it was. We need to be connected and informed whenever and wherever we are.

Internet has the most important key on this. When Internet appeared a door opened us our minds and we started to feel that it was possible to be “connected with the world”. It marked a new period in the “Information Era”: “Internet Era”.

We never imagined how do we were able to connect with each other; but now we just need to turn on the PC, the smartphone, the 3G mobile, the game console, or the tv…

We have just change a little bit the ways of communication: before we used to use the phone to communicate with our friends; now we use the social networks to get in touch with them. It seems to be more confortable. There are some other social networks used to professional reasons too.

It is reasonable that not every citizen use Internet the same way as the others. Each person use it in a different way: adults use it for work and read the news and be informed; by the other hand, teens and young people use it to be connected with the other people, watch videos, listen to music and find information for homework…

With Internet everything we can imagine has changed: the way we learn, the way we teach, the way we communicate, the way we exchange information, and also journalism.

With Internet, everyone is able to exchange information, and in some way, everyone can be a journalist; but believe me, it is not that simple!
